It was lovely to receive this thank-you from them afterwards. "We loved the ideas you put forward and really felt that you understood what we wanted. We are really pleased with how everything went from the planning stage to the ceremony." I send them my very best wishes for a long and happy marriage.
A beautiful wedding ceremony at Roberts' Restaurant's Moptop Aisle in the Hunter Valley. The couple chose to have a sand ceremony which was fun and something a little bit different.

What a wonderful weekend - a wedding on both Saturday and Sunday and what made it so super special was that they were weddings of friends and family. Here the stylish bride and groom arrive after having photos taken to greet their guests in the ballroom of a lovely hotel. The bride looked just like a fairytale princess and her groom, Prince Charming. I am so lucky that I am still very close to my ex-husband's family. Though we divorced and he's remarried I am always included in family events. But what a thrill to be asked to be the celebrant at his brother's wedding! The ceremony and reception were held at the family home and it was a simple but emotion-packed ceremony. Afterwards the bride's sister, who had flown over from Thailand, conducted a Sai Sin ceremony - where guests tie string which has been blessed by monks round the couples' left wrists to bring good luck for their future. It was such a wonderful, relaxed and happy day, with so many special people present. It made me, once again, so thankful that despite divorce we're all good friends. The groom and groomsmen arrived in immaculate suits and akubra hats - riding high on camels. The bridal party swept along the long dirt road to a specially built rotunda by the Hunter River in an array of perfectly restored Cobb & Co coaches. Apart from some skittish Shetland ponies all went according to plan. A petrol generator ensured music and sound from the PA as the young couple pledged their commitment. And, the final touch of creativity, as a token of her love the bride had her fingerprint etched into her husband's wedding band. Throughout history roses have held great significance. Monks tended rose gardens in the Middle Ages...there are references to roses in the bible and of course Shakespeare's immortal words were, "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." So no wonder some couples chose to include a rose ceremony at their wedding. Red roses stand for sacrifice and love. White roses represents pure spiritual love. A single white rose represents forgiveness and white roses in a bridal bouquet signify a holy union.Twelve roses is considered a complete cycle and therefore represents true love... while nine stand for eternal love. At weddings, engagements and renewal ceremonies it's a lovely idea for the couple to present each other with a rose - either white or red - as a symbol of their love. Planning a small, intimate wedding and want all your guests to be involved? Then consider a wedding ring blessing. Before the exchange of rings, guests can be asked to bless the wedding bands or to fill them with love and positive vibes. They can be handed to someone in the front row, and ask for them to be passed around all the guests, until they come back to the front. Try to schedule this in during a musical interlude. If you like this idea but are having a lot of guests, you could consider asking just a select few people to hold and bless the rings. The last thing you want is for the rings to be lost amongst the crowd! |
