Children are the rainbow's gold at this wedding

I am so looking forward to Saturday when I'm conducting a wedding on the shores of beautiful Lake Macquarie. And, for me, the most exciting part of the ceremony will be the joining of the three children of the bride with the two little ones of the bridegroom into a whole new blended family. Children are so precious - the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow...

SMALL IS DEFINITELY BEAUTIFUL

Not everyone wants a big wedding with lots of guests, lots of celebrations - and lots of expense!...Some couples want something really small and intimate to pledge their love for each other. This couple chose two close friends as witnesses and I conducted a beautiful and moving wedding ceremony in a hotel room for them. Being part of such a small ceremony felt so very special! The bride messaged me afterwards saying, "The ceremony was just what we wanted. Thanks heaps for your patience with us not being ready. We all loved it and enjoyed it!" And that made me feel ever MORE special!

A beautiful wedding ceremony at Roberts' Restaurant's Moptop Aisle in the Hunter Valley. The couple chose to have a sand ceremony which was  fun and something a little bit different.

It was lovely to receive this thank-you from them afterwards. "We loved the ideas you put forward and really felt that you understood what we wanted. We are really pleased with  how everything went from the planning stage to the ceremony." I send them my very best wishes for a long and happy marriage.

NOW WE'RE THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX...

An unusual idea for a couple who want something very different for their wedding ceremony is this... Get a wooden box, a bottle of wine (or the alcohol of your choice), and two glasses. Write love notes to each other, explaining your feelings as you prepare to start your new life together as husband and wife. Seal your letter without letting your partner read what you’ve written. During the ceremony, place the love notes inside the wooden box with the wine and glasses. Take turns hammering the box shut.Agree to keep the box sealed until a special anniversary, like your 10th or 20th, unless you hit a rough patch. Then, break open the box, pour the wine, read the letters, and remember what it’s all about.

VOTE FOR THE CUTEST FLOWER GIRL...

In the 'olden days' when brides were very young the flower girl would lead her forward to her nuptials as a symbol of innocence blooming to become a wife and mother. In ancient Roman and Greek days the flower girl would scatter herbs and grains to attract fertility in the new union.
But today flower girls are often chosen from family members and their main job is to look cute! Do you have any pictures of particularly cute flower girls? Post them up here and we will place votes for the cutest!

What a wonderful weekend - a wedding on both Saturday and Sunday and what made it so super special was that they were weddings of friends and family. Here the stylish bride and groom arrive after having photos taken to greet their guests in the ballroom of a lovely hotel.
The bride looked  just like a fairytale princess and her groom, Prince Charming.

THE FOCUS ON FAMILY AND FRIENDSHIPS

I am so lucky that I am still very close to my ex-husband's family. Though we divorced and he's remarried I am always included in family events. But what a thrill to be asked to be the celebrant at his brother's wedding!
The ceremony and reception were held at the family home and it was a simple but emotion-packed ceremony. Afterwards the bride's sister, who had flown over from Thailand, conducted a Sai Sin ceremony - where guests tie string which has been blessed by monks round the couples' left wrists to bring good luck for their future. It was such a wonderful, relaxed and happy day, with so many special people present. It made me, once again, so thankful that despite divorce we're all good friends.

CAMELS, CARRIAGES AND CREATIVITY

The groom and groomsmen arrived in immaculate suits and akubra hats - riding high on camels.

The bridal party swept along the long dirt road to a specially built rotunda by the Hunter River in an array of perfectly restored Cobb & Co coaches.

Apart from some skittish Shetland ponies all went according to plan. A petrol generator ensured music and sound from the PA as the young couple pledged their commitment.

And, the final touch of creativity, as a token of her love the bride had her fingerprint etched into her husband's wedding band.

A UNIQUE WEDDING GUEST REGISTER

I'm starting work on a unique guest register for a beautiful South African girl's wedding. She was married recently in South Africa then had another wedding celebration in Zimbabwe where her husband comes from. The guest register, with an array of beautiful images plus the story of how the couple met and their time together so far, will be used at their Australian wedding celebration. Family and friends overseas will also be able to sign it. There will certainly be no other commercially available guest register to match it!
