WHY DO I LOVE WHAT I DO? As a journalist, writer and author as well as a civil celebrant my aim is to help people celebrate special occasions - and the different chapters in their lives. My passion is people - and my respect and interest in people led me into journalism, but it was always the special stories everyone has which kept me hooked. My work has led to so many wonderful experiences. When working in TV and interviewing a man approaching his 100th birthday I asked if there was anything left he would like to achieve. He said, to be re-united with the riverboat that he'd built 70 years before. I managed to locate the boat, plus its current owner and organised a trip for him along his beloved Hawkesbury River. And would you believe, we even met up with people who knew him from his working days when we took him to his once favourite pub! He was ecstatic with the day and afterwards admitted, now he could die happy. Oh, and it also made a wonderful TV documentary...
WHAT CAN I OFFER YOU? I will go beyond what's expected to ensure your wedding, commitment service, baby-naming, 'This is Your Life' celebration or funeral, or any other ceremony for that matter, is perfect for you. I can also write speeches and coach in public speaking.
WHAT ELSE CAN I PROVIDE? As an editor and author as well as a civil celebrant I can create a beautifully written book as a unique keepsake, complete with images, to help celebrate your occasion. Some people like to use this book as a really special guest register.
CAN I WRITE AN ENTIRE LIFE OR FAMILY STORY? Absolutely! After several of our close relatives died, my daughter begged me to write the family story down as she was scared the memories would be lost. I called my book for her, Gift to My Daughter. I am so glad that I did it because I know it will be cherished by future generations to come. Now I am thrilled to be getting commissions from other people for similar projects.
